STEP 3 – Bar Screens

We Get Cell Phones, Toys, Plastics, and Just Plain Trash

The wastewater flows through bars that screen out the trash. We screen out things that were once valuable to someone, like cell phones or false teeth. These things WERE valuable. Once they are flushed, they are trash. We do not look through the poopy trash to find things you accidently flushed.

We also get trash that people wanted to get rid of. People flush many things that cause clogs or other problems. Don’t flush baby wipes, or diapers, or cotton balls, or Q-tips. When we flush trash, we are wasting water. We are also making problems for our sewer pipes.
