Our cleaned wastewater can be used for many things, but not for drinking. We use it to cool the engines at our Co-Gen Power Plant. We use it to water plants and trees. We use it for cleaning.

The cleaned wastewater can also be used by parks and fields in Albuquerque. This cleaned wastewater has to flow through pipes to get to town. We know our water is clean, but we cannot be sure about the underground pipes. That is why we have to put bleach in the water before it goes into the pipes. The bleach kills any germs in the pipes.

In the summer we use lots of water to keep our parks and playing fields green. We can send 2-3 million gallons of cleaned wastewater to town every day. This water is used to water all that grass.
