The Living River Fund |
|
|
|
The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority, in conjunction with six conservation groups, has established a fund that will allow water rights to be purchased to keep water in the Rio Grande for the benefit of the river’s ecosystem and the endangered Silvery Minnow.
There are two ways ratepayers can contribute to the “The Living River Fund.”
-
Starting in October 2008, ratepayers can select a special check-box on their water bill to make a $1 donation.Ratepayers must add an additional $1 to the “total amount due” on their bill.
-
Ratepayers may bring their contribution of any amount to the City Hall Treasury window.

Easy as 1-2-3-2-1! |

It's Time to Change the Way We Water!
In Albuquerque, we use 40 percent of our drinking water on our yards every year. That's got to change if we're going to meet state-mandated conservation goals and preserve our aquifer for future generations.
Avoid mandatory restrictions — and choose your own days!
Rather than impose mandatory day-of-the-week watering schedules, the Water Authority is putting YOU in control, with "Water by the Numbers." Pick your own days to water, and irrigate your landscape:
- ONCE A WEEK IN MARCH
- TWICE A WEEK IN APRIL AND MAY
- THREE TIMES A WEEK IN JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST
- TWICE A WEEK IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER
- ONCE A WEEK IN NOVEMBER
It's as easy as 1-2-3-2-1!
